Another simple improvemnet: The HypeMiC ships with a pop filter, so you don't have to go out and buy one yourself. The filter is the best we've seen included with a USB mic to date, with a real gooseneck adjustable arm, and a screen with a wide-enough diameter to fully protect the mic's grille from plosives. Between the pop filter and the compression, the HypeMiC is armed with powerful tools to get podcast or song vocals recorded quickly.

Apogee also includes all cables you possibly need to record with the HypeMiC—a Lightning cable for iOS devices, a USB-C cable, and a traditional USB-A cable, all of which connect to the micro USB port on the bottom of the mic. The HypeMiC also ships with a zip-up carrying case that houses all the accessories.

Without the compression engaged, as mentioned, the HypeMiC is basically the MiC Plus. We found the signal to be nearly identical—a clean, clear signal that is slightly less bright than some competing models, like the Blue Raspberry. The signal is most similar, we found, to the Sennheiser MK 4 Digital, which isn't too shocking considering the MK 4 Digital uses an Apogee analog-to-digital converter in its signal chain.
